Yanis Varoufakis has been at the center of the Greek economic crisis for as long as it has been going on. Though out of the news it is still a reality for the people living in Greece and Europe. In 2014 Yanis Varoufakis helped propel the leftist party Syriza into power as his country was facing off against European creditors. In 2015 he resigned his position of Greek Finance Minister after his party accepted a European bailout loan requiring further austerity. He has now formed a new political party to compete in the next election that will make him a candidate for Prime Minister.
