Former Alameda Co DA Pamela Price Reflects Post-Recall; Oakland Struggles with Measure C Funding; Plus Resistance in Residence Artist Robert Moses

Pamela Prices became the first Black woman to be elected to the seat of Alameda County District Attorney, but before the ballots were even counted, a conservative block funded by billionaires and law enforcement agencies across the country, began planning a recall. That recall was successful. Joining us to discuss that recall as well as thoughts on the current sitting DA is former Alameda County District Attorney, Pamela Price.

Then, in 2020, Oakland voters voted to increase taxes in order to generate approximately $150 million annually for expanding access to early childhood education and care, but a lawsuit by the County Tax Payers Association has held up the funds. Now, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors has tentatively approved the first disbursement. Joining us to discuss is Clarissa Doutherd, the Executive Director of Parent Voices Oakland.

This week’s Resistance in Residence Artist is writer, choreographer and composer Robert Moses. His dance company, Robert Moses’ Kin, celebrates its 30th anniversary this weekend, with an all-original program showcasing powerful, genre-bending theatrical dance. The two-act program features a world premiere, delving into Robert Moses’ signature exploration of sensuality, war, race, human rights, and individual freedoms through dynamic choreography and profound emotional depth. In addition to the premiere, the dance company Robert Moses’ Kin presents three original works choreographed by three guest artists. Each piece features a collaboration with both a composer and a writer, resulting in dynamic and multi-disciplined works.
