Tonight’s program begins with Noticias, a summary of international and local news from the Americas. We also focus on conversations about Cuba: including a discussion on how to travel to Cuba with Valerie Landau; and hear Alicia Jrapo, formerly of the International Committee to Free the Cuban 5, describing the evolution of the group’s work since the return of the Cuban political prisoners from the United States to Cuba to supporting Cuban sovereignty and independence. We also offer an interview about the upcoming dance party of local music groups, “Carne Cruda” and “Hernandez’s Hideaway” and we hear their original music. In closing, Francisco X. Alarcon offers his poem “War is Death” from his new book “Canto Hondo/Deep Song.”
