IWD 2:00 AM – 3:00 AM Debra Sloss: Gender Based Violence

STATE of MINDGender-Based Violence Prevention for Teens and Young Adult:  Gender-based violence is an umbrella term that includes the more familiar descriptors of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence and dating violence. It’s a substantial problem across our country and around the world, impacting one in every three American girls. Teens and college students are particularly vulnerable. The coronavirus pandemic amplified the problem and led to a rising number of crisis line calls and requests for services. For survivors, the mental health impacts are substantial and can include an array of symptoms. In this episode we talk with two Walnut Center Family & Women’s Center educator-advocates as well as a survivor and hotline volunteer. Join us and invite a teen or young adult in your life to listen with you to learn prevention tips and be prepared to help stop such violence.  More information and resources can be found at www.stateofmindmedia.org.
