On this episode of the It’s Going Down podcast, we speak with author, podcaster, and organizer, adrienne maree brown, known for such works as Pleasure Activism, Emergent Strategy, and We Will Not Cancel Us.
During our conversation, we speak about Brown’s past and current written work and it can be viewed looking back on both the recent rebellion in defense of Black lives, the catastrophic impacts of climate change, and the growth of mutual aid programs in the wake of the coronavirus. With newer folks coming into social movements, we discuss what it would mean to build non-toxic relationships that can both challenge power but also help people grow to become better human beings.
This episode also features a short snippet from It Did Happen Here, an audio documentary about anti-racist resistance and organizing to neo-Nazi skinheads in late 1980s and early 1990s Portland, Oregon.
