The jazz world is grieving the loss of the widely respected and influential pianist, composer, and educator GERI ALLEN, who died on June 27 at age 60. In 1988, program host Art Sato interviewed Allen, then 31, while she was in Oakland to perform at Koncepts Cultural Gallery for her West Coast debut.  In remembrance of Ms. Allen, we broadcast that interview in which she speaks of her roots and influences and expounds on her musical philosophy.
