Many families can’t afford to live in good performing school districts, and sometimes, parents like Tonya McDowell, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, may not abide the school  requirements to get their child a good education. Yet many school districts considers that theft. Tonya McDowell, a 34-year old, single mother was sentenced to five years in prison for sending her son to a school outside his home district. The homeless mom sent her son to elementary school in Norwalk, Connecticut, instead of Bridgeport, where he was supposed to go. Yet recently, 50 people including actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin were discovered to have been paying large amounts of money to illegally solidify their child’s entrance into some of the most elite colleges and universities, according to federal investigators.
