A holiday reminder: This season can be tough for those dealing with grief or depression. For those suffering in silence, HKR decided to revisit the topic of mental illness and Suicide. We spoke with Charlotte Redden Hamilton, PhD about the Mental Illness, Suicide and the Mental Health Conditions that Affect The African American Community.

Charlotte Redden Hamilton, PhD, LPC/S, NCC, ACS. Hamilton is the Department Chairperson and Program Director, Clinical Mental Health Counseling at South University ” Columbia. Hamilton is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a national certified counselor (NCC). As a counselor educator, she has taught counseling courses at several universities and practiced counseling at several agencies. She has had a host of mental health experiences ranging as a mental health counselor for several mentally ill persons, counseling children & adolescent and counseling drug and alcohol adolescents and adults. Her fondness for teaching and working with students in the counseling field goes hand in hand as teacher and practitioner.
