In conversation with Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor Ph.D, assistant professor of African-American studies at Princeton University and the author of the new book: “From #BlackLivesMatter to Black Liberation”—a political analysis of the Black Lives Matter movement, the history of policing and race in the United States, and divisions between the black political establishment and today’s Black Lives Matter activists.

Taylor is considered one of the most important new political voices of our generation. And since the early age of 14, has been involved in organized politics. Taylor’s research examines race and public policy including American housing policies. In her new book,“From #BlackLivesMatter to Black Liberation” Dr. Taylor examines the persistent inequalities facing Black Americans, the contradictory political gains of the Civil Rights Movement, and explains how the Black Lives Matter movement has the potential to challenge not just police terrorism, but America’s political leadership and the pervasive roots of inequality itself.
