Episode 183 – Fall Needledrop
From the ever flowing river of vinyl, whose flow will increase with the changing seasons, we fished out Ivor Cutler, Angelique Kudjo, Blake Fleming, Wu-Lu, CivilistJavel!, Bogdan Raczynski, James Holden, Thurston Moore, Aerial M, and the Butthole Surfers.
Curator Chris Cory:
“The detritus of the ABOT shipping department has drifted in, leaving us with more than enough for this show. The first LP up is something I have been looking for for over two decades. This is a UK LP on Rough Trade that puzzlingly never made it to a second pressing, and it is now almost 40 years out of print. Bafflingly rated at 2.5 stars by Allmusic, I think that the critics miss the point of this guy. Or maybe it is just me. But assuming that you will find this guy as amusing as I do, I will give you a bit of biography.
Scottish poet and musician Ivor Cutler had a career from this 60’s up until 2004, and a loyal following of enthusiasts for his eccentric output. The piece that caught my attention is off the album Gruts, which fell in the middle of his career, and is titled the Hoorgie House.”
