Actor and Playwright Jeanne Sakata speaks to KPFA host Jovelyn Richards about the Supreme Court decision of Gordon Hirabayashi v. United States, where a Japanese-American college student lost the battle against the only country he’d ever known, a country that decided national security trumped his inalienable rights. It took over 40 years for his criminal conviction to be overturned and in 2012, he was awarded a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom by Barack Obama.
