As the federal government spending bill deadline looms on December 8th, are Republicans even ready to pass a budget? On today’s show we’ll turn to Lindsay Koshgarian of the National Priorities Project. She’ll discuss how the GOP may have spent all its political capital to pass it’s massive tax reform bill instead of working on a spending package, how the Democrats may try to extend DACA protections in exchange for their support on a budget bill, and how the Republicans are separately intending on cutting social safety net programs and earned benefits like Social Security and Medicare. Then, a well-timed biography of Richard Nixon was recently published. We’ll speak with author John A. Farrell about the disgraced former president and what the similarities and differences are between Nixon and our current president.
