In this hour segment, we will travel along with my 95yr old Portuguese Grandmother, as she makes the decision to leave her home of 50+ years, rids herself of everything she has ever known, and jumps into a new “assisted” life, with the hopes of leaving her many years of solitude since my Papa passed behind her.
Come along with us as she shares her deepest fears and hopes for the future, all while navigating a host of new challenges including apartment living, pandemic restrictions, and the loss of her independence. We will travel through time, as she shares about her life and offers an elder’s perspective on what it takes to survive, and survive well, after nearly a century on this Earth. I invite you to contemplate along with her where we have come from, where we are going, and perhaps more importantly, what keeps us going.
