Will Republican Senators Watch the Video Caroline Kennedy Sent Them Describing Her Cousin RFK Jr. as a “Predator?”
We begin with hearings today before the U.S. Senate for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to become the next Secretary of Health and Human Services, which was preceded by a video and letter sent to the senators by RFK Jr.’s cousin Caroline Kennedy, which provided a devastating portrait of a “predator”, a fraud, a grifter, and a hypocrite who got his own younger brother hooked on heroin, causing his death. Joining us to discuss how Kennedy is poised to become the purveyor of death for a Trump Administration that will bring death and destruction to the country and the world is Dr. Amesh Adalja, a Senior Scholar at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Health Security. His work focuses on emerging infectious disease, pandemic preparedness, and biosecurity, and he has served on U.S. government panels tasked with developing guidelines for the treatment of plague, botulism, and anthrax in mass casualty settings and the system of care for infectious disease emergencies and as an external advisor to the New York City Health and Hospital Emergency Management Highly Infectious Disease training program, as well as on a FEMA working group on nuclear disaster recovery. He was also a member of the National Quality Forum’s Infectious Disease Standing Committee and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Disaster Medical System.
RFK Jr. and the Spread of Medical Disinformation and Conspiracy Theories
Then we discuss the spread of medical disinformation and conspiracy theories and speak with Dr. Peter Katona, a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He has worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an EIS Officer studying viral diseases and doing epidemic investigation and has held appointments at Louisiana State University’s National Center for Biomedical Research and Training and the Los Angeles County Emergency Management Services (EMS) Agency.
Trump Has Already Violated His Oath of Office on the 14th Amendment Birthright and the Funding Freeze He Had to Rescind
Then finally, with Trump issuing an executive order today to send migrants rounded up by ICE to Guantanamo Bay, we speak with Mae Ngai, Professor of History and Lung Family Professor of Asian American Studies at Columbia University. A legal and political historian interested in questions of immigration, citizenship, and nationalism, she is author of Impossible Subjects: Illegal Aliens and the Making of Modern America and The Lucky Ones: One Family and the Extraordinary Invention of Chinese America. Her latest book is The Chinese Question: The Gold Rushes and Global Politics. We discuss her article at The London School of Economics, “Trump’s executive order to curtail birthright citizenship is part of the long history of ‘alien citizenship’ in the US,” and how Trump has already violated his oath of office by violating the Constitution’s 14th Amendment and freezing government funds — a freeze which he had to rescind today.
