Ayad Akhtar is a first generation Pakistani-American screenwriter and playwright from Milwaukee. American Dervish is his first novel.Ayad Akhtar is the Pakistani-American author of the 2013 Pulitzer Prize winning play, Disgraced, now at Berkeley Rep through December 27, 2015, a powerful look at a secular Muslim attorney whose inner feelings come out during a dinner with friends.The Invisible Hand, about a kidnapped businessman in Pakistan, plays at Marin Theatre Company next June. Ayad Akhtar is interviewed by Richard Wolinsky.
