9/20/21 Parkinson’s Disease

It’s a disease many of us have heard of but rarely thought much about: Parkinson’s disease. But, according to statistics from the Parkinson’s Foundation, about a million people in the United States are living with this debilitating condition right now. And, the disease is growing. About 60,000 Americans are newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s each year, meaning that, by 2030, that one-million-person figure is projected to expand to over 1.2 million. But, according to this week’s guest, this expansion of Parkinson’s Disease isn’t inevitable. Host David B. Feldman interviews Dr. Ray Dorsey, neurologist and co-author of Ending Parkinson’s Disease: A Prescription for Action, about what Parkinson’s disease is, what causes it, and what we can we do about it.
