Women’s Magazine – December 2, 2013

What makes a writer feminist, and what makes feminists writers? Gayle Greene, author of The Poetics of Change: The Fiction of Doris Lessing discusses one of the iconic women writers of the twentieth century, who sometimes rejected the label of feminist, but inspired a generation of feminist readers and writers.

And authors Dorothy Allison and Gail Tsukiyama discuss their writing process and the importance of a nurturing community of women writers, as well as the “radical hospitality” provided by Hedgebrook , a unique writer’s retreat for women.
