Eating disorders are not only a teenage problem. Up to 4% of women over 50 struggle with anorexia, binge eating, bulimia or another type of eating disorder, and only 1 in 10 of those who suffer from these conditions seek treatment for them. Though people with eating disorders feel shame, they are medical conditions with a strong genetic component. We talk about Jennifer Lombardi, anorexia survivor and treatment professional, about what to look for and how to help if someone you care about might be affected.

And activist, scholar and former KPFA host Penny Rosenwasser discusses her new book, Hope Into Practice: Jewish Women Choosing Justice Despite Our Fears.  The book looks at how internalized anti-Semitism limits Jewish women’s self-expression, and charts a path to liberatory healing and action.
