Special Broadcast

Sunday Morning – July 1, 2007

Borders, immigration, and identity are the order of the day for Sunday
this week.

Rebecca Solnit’s new book is Storming the Gates of Paradise and she and Peter discuss the geography of border during the first hour. Los Angeles Times reporter Sam Quinones adds his perspective to the conversation with stories from his new book, Antonio’s Gun and Delfino’s Dream, a collection of essays based on his decade of freelance reporting from Mexico.

Late in the second hour Orange County Weekly columnist Gustavo Arellano adds his special take on the subject. Arellano writes "Ask a Mexican" for the paper and a collection of his satirical and acerbic columns is out in book form from Scribner’s. He and Peter talk about identity with the audience.
