Liberia, the west African country established by freed African slaves, has recently emerged from years of civil war. With a new president at the helm, how can Liberia ensure that its natural resources, which once bankrolled Charles Taylor’s regime, are now used to promote poverty alleviation and sustainability? Terre Verde speaks with Silas Siakor, a 2006 Goldman Environmental Prize winner, and forest expert Michelle Medieros.
