The Life and Legacy of Harriet Tubman

Abolitionist and activist Harriet Tubman will potentially soon replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill. Born into enslavement in Maryland, Harriet Tubman escaped to freedom in Pennsylvania in 1849 to become the most famous “conductor” on the Underground Railroad, an elaborate secret network of safe houses.
