Oct 22nd is National Police Brutality Awareness Day

Saturday, October 22 is National Police Brutality Awareness Day so we are highlighting three local Bay Area families who have lost loved ones to police violence, who are using their grief as fuel to organize for a safer communities.

We start with Taun Hall, mother of Miles Hall who was shot and killed by the Walnut Creek Police Department in the middle of a mental health crisis in 2019.

Then we move to Michelle and Ashley Monterosa, sisters of then-22-year-old Sean Monterosa who was shot and killed by the Vallejo Police Department on June 2, 2020.

Finally, we speak with Jeralyn Blueford, mother of then-18 year old Alan Blueford who was shot and killed by former Oakland Police Officer Miguel Masso on May 6, 2013.
