Bay Area residents were jolted awake this week by a 4.3 magnitude earthquake. While it may not have been the “Big One” we are expecting, the tremor reminds us to be prepared for when, not if, the expected large earthquake does arrive. On the show today we speak with Dr. Angie Lux, a seismologist and Project Scientist at the Berkeley Seismology Lab who specializes in earthquake early warning systems, using MEMS sensors and machine learning to improve detection and reduce false signals.
