Why Did The Supreme Court Rule In Favor of A Homophobic Baker?

The Supreme Court ruled in a 7 to 2 decision on Monday in favor of a Colorado baker who refused to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple. The decision, while devastating on the surface, is apparently narrow enough in scope that it does not open the door to broad-based discrimination on the basis of religious concern. On our show today Rachel Laser, President and CEO of Americans United for Separation of Church and State will join us to explain exactly what the ruling means. Then, we’ll bring you a special report from our field correspondent Nic Cha Kim from one of the nationwide rallies on Fridays organized by the ACLU called Keep Families Together. The rallies were aimed at the Trump administration’s decision to separate undocumented children from their parents. Finally we’ll examine the details of new leaked memo on coal and nuclear powered plants that the show the Trump regime’s logic behind forcing the failing coal and nuclear power industries to remain alive. We’ll find out how Trump is citing national security to pander to the rural white workers in his base who want coal plants to keep functioning.
