This week’s Resistance in Residence artist is Palestinian-American multimedia artist, woodworker, musician, and MC Tarik “Excentrik” Kazaleh. Born in California and raised between working-class Detroit and the shifting political and cultural landscape of Oakland, Excentrik is known for his oud and percussion-driven sound, political commentary, and impassioned lyricism.
Widely regarded as one of the originators of Arab hip hop, he is a founding member and producer of the seminal hip hop group Arab Summit.
Alongside his wife, Tarik co-founded Prosthetics for Palestine to meet the urgent demand for prosthetic care in Gaza. For more information, check out their website: https://www.prostheticsforpalestine.org/
