Same As it Ever Was: Gender (in)equity and Pandemic Parenting

Since the onset of the pandemic, over 2 million women have left the workforce. And, according to a recent McKinsey study, women with children under 10 are almost twice as likely to report that they are considering leaving their jobs as men. This story explores why. Weaving together interviews with researchers, policy experts, childcare workers, and mothers of children under age 10 as well as personal narrative, Same As it Ever Was: Gender (in)equity and Pandemic Parenting, unpacks why a disproportionate number of women are leaving the workforce, and what can be done to promote greater equity in the future.  Produced and narrated by Lauren Shapiro.
