At least 50 people were killed early Sunday when a gunman wielding an assault-type rifle and a handgun opened fire inside a crowded gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Investigations are trying to decipher whether the assault was an act of terrorism, a hate crime, or both while people around the world are wondering why mass violence keeps happening in America.
Gay Muslim filmmaker Parvez Sharma share his thoughts on the Sunday’s massacre. Sharma is best known for his two films A Jihad for Love and A Sinner in Mecca.
Then we talk to constitutional scholar David Cole to address the history of Florida’s gun laws and to discuss his latest book: “Engines of Liberty: The Power of Citizen Activists to Make Constitutional Law.”
