SF’s “pay to play” politics is the subject of an F.B.I. criminal corruption probe. It stems from from an investigation into State Senator Leland Yee for corruption and now implicates San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and others including an Alameda County prosecutor who was placed on leave for alleged money laundering. Jonah Owen Lamb, a journalist at The Examiner, who broke the story of F.B.I. allegations against Mayor Lee and Steven T. Jones, former editor of the San Francisco Bay Guardian, talk about the case and history of San Francisco’s “pay to play” politics.
