On today’s show we will look at the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign that begins on November 25, the International Day Against Violence Against Women and runs through December 10, International Human Rights Day. We will be talking with a representative from Amnesty International about organizing against violence against women, and to a Human Rights Watch researcher about the spread of AIDS and women’s rights abuses. Author Julia Alvarez will discuss her novel In the Time of the Butterflies, about the Mirabel sisters who have become symbols of feminist resistance.
