Explorations deep into the language of music. There’s a lot that’s Bach, and a lot that’s not.
6:00 AM Pacific Time: Sundays
Get ready to embark on a harmonious journey with Sunday Classics every Sunday at 6:00am! Immerse yourself in a world of timeless melodies as we present a captivating Sunday morning music show. While our heart beats to the rhythm of classical compositions, we’re all about embracing the diversity of musical expressions.
Meet our delightful host, Sherry Gendleman, who’s here to serenade your Sunday mornings. With a deep appreciation for the tranquility that Sundays bring, Sherry curates a musical experience that respects tradition while infusing vibrant energy. As the hours tick by, be prepared for a delightful crescendo of melodies, both familiar and enchantingly novel.
Sherry’s roots trace back to the vibrant KPFA community since the 1980s. An attorney, a community activist, and a music aficionado spanning various genres, she’s been weaving magic into the show for over 6 years. Join us and let Sherry’s passion for music and her artful curation transform your Sunday mornings into a symphony of joy.
And that’s not all – introducing Anthony Bonet, a musical maven who’s been gracing the airwaves since 1991. Known by his on-air alias “Sex 14’s,” Anthony has explored the vast expanse of musical genres. A lifelong musician, he’s worn many hats in the music industry, from booking prestigious San Francisco nightclubs to shaping the soundscape as a freelance A&R at record labels.
Anthony joined forces with Sunday Classics in May 2022, adding his unique touch to the show. Catch him on the fourth (and sometimes fifth) Sundays of the month, where he’ll take you on a journey through the rich tapestry of classical music – spanning from medieval masterpieces to avant-garde compositions. But his real passion? Illuminating the work of emerging composers, giving them the spotlight they deserve.
Join Sherry Gendleman and Anthony Bonet on Sunday Classics as they weave tales with melodies, bridging the past and the future. It’s more than a show; it’s a musical odyssey that will leave you enchanted and inspired. Tune in and let the magic flow!
