Born in NYC and raised in Port of Spain, Trinidad, in the Caribbean, he’s absorbed diverse musical influences that he has shared on the long-running “Spirit of Carnival,” “Rhythm Drive,” and now “Music of the World.”

David McBurnie speaks with master drummer of the Bomba and Plena rhythms, Dr.Modesto Cepeda from Puerto Rico. Dr. Cepeda is head of the legendary Cepeda family, which since the 1950’s has been considered one the the premier Bomba and Plena drum ensembles of Puerto Rico.
