Renowned radio DJ Luis Medina has broadcast Salsa, Afro-Cuban, Latin Jazz and World music during his prolific career. His program “Con Sabor” reflects his impeccable taste, encyclopedic knowledge of music history and uncanny ability to stay fresh with current musical trends. He brought those skills, leadership and passion into his role as KPFA’s Music Director from 2001 to 2014. He was also Entertainment Director for huge festivals such as Carnaval San Francisco and is an in-demand Master of Ceremonies who has presented international stars such as Ruben Blades, legends such as Celia Cruz and rising local stars such as Carlos Xavier. As a popular DJ, Luis has enjoyed residencies at such SF Bay Area’s legendary clubs as Jelly’s and Cafe Cocomo. Luis’s extensive experience as a DJ and MC have brought him to DJ at Tempo-Latino, the biggest European Afro-Latin music festival based in France and La Mambera in Barcelona to opening up Bay Area venues to Latin music such as Village in Vallejo.
