Brava! for Women in the Arts presents a very special Father’s Day afternoon featuring Guadalupe Rivera Marín, the daughter of Diego Rivera, speaking about growing up with her famous father in conversaton with KPOO’s Chelis Lopez. The talk will conclude with a Q&A. Please also join us post-show for a recepton with Guadalupe Rivera Marín in our Cabaret. PLEASE NOTE: The conversaton between Guadalupe and Chelis will be conducted mostly in Spanish, with English translaton provided by a conversatonal interpreter.

GUADALUPE RIVERA MARÍN is Ph. D, lawyer, economist, university professor and defender of women’s rights, and the daughter of renowned muralist Diego Rivera. Ms. Rivera is the Founder and Board Chair of the Diego Rivera Foundaton and has been an Honorary Trustee at The Mexican Museum since September 2014. She is the author of several books, including Un Río dos Riveras, the testmony of the relatonship between a father and his daughter. In this book, Rivera writes about her father’s feelings and moods; the anger and eccentricites of a genius of art, but also the sensitvity of a man who knew how to live up to the politcal and social circumstances of his tme.

CHELIS LOPEZ is the host and producer of KPOO 89.5FM programs Pajaro Latnoamericano and Andanzas. She is also co-host of the Línea Abierta show on Radio Bilingue, the Natonal Latno Public Radio Network, and for over ten years, has moderated the Spanish reading group “Rincón Literario” at the San Francisco Public Library main branch.
