Celebrate KPFA’s 77th Birthday at La Peña Cultural Center on Friday, March 27, 2026 with a dance lesson, dance perfomance, live music, and DJ sets!

The event will last from 8:00 pm to 1 am. $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

  • 8:15 pm to 9:15 pm: Salsa Dance Lesson with Felipe Martinez.
  • 9:30 pm: Dance Performance by Rueda Con Ritmo

9:45 pm to 1 am, enjoy the evening of two live music sets by Julio Bravo & Salsabor, and curated DJ sets by DJ El de la Clave and Luis Medina.

Event Producer, Emcee and curated DJ set by: Luis Medina is a respected radio broadcaster and event producer who has championed Latin music in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1974. Luis hosts Con Sabor on KPFA Radio (94.1 FM), airing Saturday evenings from 9–11 pm. His program features the best in salsa, Latin jazz, Afro-Cuban, and Afro-Latin music, along with in-depth interviews with both internationally known artists and local musicians.

Live Music Performance by: Peruvian born singer, composer, and bandleader, Julio Bravo y su Orquesta Salsabor are a group of talented and ambitious musicians that are energetic, versatile, fun to watch, and fun to dance to. They have an eclectic mix of the best danceable tunes, covers and originals, from their CD “10 Años de Salsa.”

Dance instruction and curated DJ set by: From the Americas to Europe & Japan, International DJ EldelaClaveSF (Felipe Martinez) is a dynamic force in the global AfroLatin music scene, known for electrifying sets that blend latin rhythms. Passionate about rhythm and connection, his mission is simple: make the world dance. Felipe Martinez is also a well established mambo & salsa dance instructor who has taught across the Americas, and most recently in Japan.

Dance performance by: Founded in 2007 by Ryan Mead and Sidney Weaverling, Rueda Con Ritmo is a community of Cuban Salsa dancers offering classes, events, and performances throughout the Bay Area and beyond, and leading Cuba Dance Trips since 2015.
