The Women’s Building Hosts Anna Deavere Smith, Alicia Garza, and Lateefah Simon

First women-owned and operated community center’s speaker series gathers insurgent voices to discuss ending racism in America.

The event will include theatrical excerpts from Anna Deavere Smith’s The Pipeline Project, and a conversation with these three innovative trailblazers that have changed America’s social justice landscape.  The discussion will focus on ending racism in America: Where we are, and what we have to do as a community to move forward.

 

The Women’s Building is the first women-owned and operated community center in the U.S. and has been an integral part of San Francisco’s Mission District community. Since 1971, San Francisco Women’s Centers has sponsored and incubated 170 emerging women’s organizations, opened its doors to more than 1,000,000 women and has served as a beacon of hope and stability for San Francisco’s diverse community.
