Arte Americas and 88.1-KFCF Present LIVE BRAZILIAN MUSIC
a benefit concert NEWZAPALOOZA 2016
Sunday, September 25, 6pm in Downtown Fresno
On September 25th at 6 pm in the outdoor Plaza at Arte Américas, the Latino cultural center along with local commercial-free radio station 88.1-KFCF will present a concert titled “Newzapalooza 2016.” The benefit show will raise funds for local journalists who air their reports on a statewide broadcast daily.
Headlining the show is Brazilian-born/New York-based performing artist and musician, Davi Vieira, who has toured with Grammy Award winners Angelique Kidjo, Sergio Mendes, Carlos Santana, Bebel Gilberto. Vieira will be backed by The Richard Giddens Trio with Eva Scow, and Nathan Guzman with very special guests Gibi Dos Santos and David Cordeiro — also of New York City..
The show will be broadcast live on 88.1-KFCF (which has a range from Madera to Delano) and highlights Arte Américas mission of creating a flourishing place for Latino arts. Opening the program will be a short set by local group FIRST GEAR who play retro Memphis-style music.
In addition to being an internationally-renowned musician, bassist Richard Giddens is also a board member of Arte Américas who brings international jazz artists to Fresno and works tirelessly to present high-level jazz in the Valley. These concerts are attended by an audience of mutigenerational, multiethnic jazz aficionados and supported by people from the communithy.
