Global Climate Strike: Voices of Youth Leaders in Puerto Rico and the Bay Area; Plus: Cine+Mas SF’s Latino Film Festival Sep 20-29

0:08 – Global Climate Strike: Today millions are striking and marching to demand action on climate, led by youth. Amira Odeh, a geographer and water resource specialist from Puerto Rico. She is an environmental activist and has worked to reduce plastic pollution, train people into becoming community organizers and is helping to reforest Puerto Rico after the hurricanes of 2017. She is the Caribbean and Florida organizer for 350.org

Hannah Estrada is a 16 year old climate Justice activist with Youth vs Apocalypse, based in the Bay Area. Hannah helped organize the climate strikes in San Francisco last March and today’s strike.

0:34 – The 11th annual San Francisco Latino Film Festival, Cine+Mas kicks off today with dozens of films illuminating Latino and Hispanic stories from environmental struggles, to queer culture, to intimate, romantic drama.

Lucho Ramirez is the the founder and executive director of Cine+Mas SF, presenters of the San Francisco Latino Film Festival (@SFLatinoFilm).

Theo Rigby (@theofilms), director, cinematographer, and interactive storyteller based out of San Francisco. He has been creating stories focusing on the immigrant experience in the U.S. for over the last decade and is the founder of iNation Media. Theo’s most recent film is Waking Dream, a short documentary series about young undocumented people with DACA permits.
