France State of Emergency

France is poised to extend its state of emergency, and announced it won’t permit mass demonstrations during next month’s climate talks in Paris–we’ll go live to Paris to get a sense of what the clampdown looks like. Then, a look at the fate of refugees fleeing Syria: we’ll talk to an attorney who works with refugees in the US about what’s changed since the Paris attack, and a political analyst who says turning away Syrian refugees is exactly what the Islamic State wants the west to do.

Guests:

  • Tony Cross, currently reporting for the English-language website of Radio France Internationale; posts longers dispatches at theravingreporter.com
  • Lina Baroudi, staff attorney at the Arab Resource and Organizing Center who works with Syrian refugees
  • Nader Atassi, Syrian-American political researcher and writer
