Bill McKibben, Nationalism in Poland and a Recent Political Takeover in Zimbabwe

During this Thursday’s episode, in light of a nationalist march with 60,000 participants that took place in Poland two days ago, we speak with Rafal Pankowski, co-founder of Polish anti-extremist association Never Again and widely-published author of The Populist Radical Right in Poland: The Patriots. He joins us to discuss the growing white nationalism in Poland. Afterwards, Dr. Chipo Dendere, Zimbabwean scholar and Visiting Assistant Professor at Amherst College whose work focuses on African politics, migration, and democratization, helps us to illuminate some of the political context that explains the recent political and military takeover of the Mugabe regime. Clare Lakewood works with the Climate Law Institute. Before joining the Center, Clare worked for the Department of the Attorney General in Western Australia, where her role included environmental prosecutions and land-use disputes. She joins UpFront to discuss Climate Change. During the final portion of this morning’s show, Brian interviews Bill Mckibben, founder of the climate movement organization 350.org, and author of Radio Free Vermont.
