Today, hosts Cat Brooks and Mitch Jeserich interview investigative journalist Eileen Markey, author of “A Radical Faith: The Assassination of Sister Maura.” Markey’s book centers around the 1980 murder of four American women by the U.S.-trained military of El Salvador, which set off a decade of debate over Cold War policy in Latin America.
Then, they interview Cid Martinez, author of “The Neighborhood Has Its Own Rules: Latinos and African Americans in South Los Angeles.” Martinez is a sociology professor at the University of San Diego. In his book, he investigates the ways African Americans and Latinos in South Los Angeles keep inter-racial conflict to a minimum.
