Climate Change in an SF Court Room; An Update on Proposals to Address CA’s Housing Crisis; Plus: Should the Alameda Sheriff’s Office run the REACH Ashland Youth Center?

7:20am –  Federal Judge William Alsup orders climate change tutorial in case against fossil fuel companies. Jason Mark (@writerfarmeris the Editor of Sierra Magazine and co-host of KPFA’s Terra Verde, Fridays at 2pm, and joins us to discuss the case. 

7:34am – State Senator Scott Wiener represents California State Senate District 11, which includes San Francisco. He discusses his housing bill SB 827 that would require increased housing development near transit.  

Joseph Smooke (@jsmooke) is with the Housing Rights Committee of San Francisco and directs the tenant counseling and community organizing program in the Richmond and Sunset districts of San Francisco.

8:08am – Oakland Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan (@Kaplan4Oakland) represents the entire City as its Councilmember At-Large. She sits down with Cat Brooks to discuss the ongoing housing crisis and mass displacement.

Dawn Valadez (@DawnValadezhas fundraised over $2 million for programs at the REACH Ashland Youth Center and is a filmmaker with a new documentary out called The Pushouts, which addresses the school-to-prison-pipeline and trauma of racism, poverty and violence.
