What’s Going on at the State Department? Plus: The Aftermath of Police Violence

7:20 – Maren Frye and Roni Weissman are juniors at Berkeley High School and co-founders of Berkeley High Students Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

7:34 –  Shaun Casey is a professor and Director of the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs at Georgetown. He was at the State Dept until 2017, where he headed the now-defunct Office of Religion and Global Affairs (RGA), reporting directly to former Secretary of State John Kerry.

Daniel Benaim is a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and Visiting Assistant Professor at New York University. He previously worked as a speechwriter at the State Department for then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and as a senior foreign policy advisor and speechwriter for Vice President Joe Biden.

8:08 – Miguel Minjares is the uncle of Elena “Ebbie” Mondragon, a pregnant sixteen-year-old teen who was shot and killed by police one year ago. The family is holding a vigil today at 5 pm in front of Hayward City Hall.

8:34 – Rupa Mayra and Sonja Mackenzie are with the Do No Harm Coalition, a group of academics, researchers and doctors launching the Justice Story, which aims to document the public health effects of police violence.
