Dave Eggers is an award-winning author of more than a dozen books, founder of McSweeney’s, a publishing house based in San Francisco, which produces books and a humor website, and a journal of new writing, McSweeny’s Monthly Quarterly. He’s co-founder of 826 National, a network of youth writing and tutoring centers around the world.
His his latest project, the International Congress of Youth Voices, will take place August 3-5th in San Francisco. It will unite 100 students from around the world will come together to learn from accomplished writers, elected officials and activists.
Next, we hear from two students participating in the Congress next week. Angel Palencia is a rising sophomore at Oakland High School in Oakland, CA and working to bridge divides on LGBTQ issues in his community. Naudika Williams is a writer, youth advocate, and student at Laney College in Oakland.
Event: On Saturday August 4, hear their powerful perspectives onstage at the Nourse Theater alongside Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche, Jose Antonio Vargas, Khaled Hosseini and more. The event starts at 7:30pm.

He specializes in the field of neuroendocrinology, childhood obesity and diabetes. His latest book is Hacking the American Mind: The Science of the Corporate Takeover of Our Bodies and Brains.
