To recap last night’s State of the Union address, UpFront is joined by Ai-jen Poo, Executive Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance and an organizer of the State of OUR Union, an alternative to the State of the Union organized by leading women activists in Washington, DC. We also hear from Donald Lacey, actor, activist, and comedian who is re-launching his one-man show Colorstruck: Surviving the Trumpocalypse at Laney College’s Odell Johnson Theater during Feb. 1-3.
Ricardo Lara, democratic State Senator from Long Beach and author of SB-183, which would bar immigration agents from entering state-controlled property without a warrant. We finish today’s show with an interview with Cecilia Chung, Senior Director of Strategic Projects at Transgender Law Center, about violence faced by the LGBTQIA community in 2017 and beyond.
