On today’s show, we start with a brand new report on the state of Hindu nationalism called The Global VHP’s Trail of Violence, published by Savera, which is a multiracial, interfaith, anti-caste coalition of Indian Americans and partners, standing together in the fight against the rise of the transnational far right. We’re in conversation with the editor of that report, Safa Ahmed, who is the Associate Director of Media & Communications with the Indian American Muslim Council.

Then, we’ll take a look at new anti-trans legislation. We’re joined by Ryan Thoreson, who advises Human Rights Watch on LGBTQ issues, and we’ll talk about some of the specific new laws in 2024 as well as their direct correlation to young trans suicidality.

Then to the impressive statistical value of our little known national social services hotline. Last week, the LA Times published a piece called This social service hotline you’ve never heard of could help pinpoint California’s next big crisis. We’re joined by LA Times data reporter Gabrielle LaMarr LeMee, as well as one of the developers of an organization called 211 Counts, Matthew Kreuter.
