She’s part of the L’eau est la Vie camp at Atchafalaya Basin occupying to stop the construction of the Bayou Basin pipeline (@NoBBP_Global), an Energy Transfer Partners project and the tail end of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Theda Wright is a land-owner of a 38-acre parcel of cypress forest in Atchafalaya Basin in Louisiana where Energy Transfer Partners is building a pipeline over her objections. On Sunday, three water protectors and a journalist were arrested on her land, despite having her permission to be there. (The Martin Parish Sheriff’s Department have not returned requests for comment.)

A few days prior, on September 8th, climate justice advocates plan to hold what organizers hope will be the largest climate march the West Coast has ever seen. They hope to push the Summit participants to take the boldest action possible on the climate. She’s a leader in the movement for climate justice, a founding member of Idle No More SF Bay, and joins us to discuss the campaign.
