Somali Immigrants Fight Abusive Conditions in ICE Detention; Plus: New Research Shows Toxic Chemical RDX Used in US Munitions Leaching into Communities

7:08 – Lisa Lehner is Americans for Immigrant Justice, and focuses on litigation for immigrants’ rights. In December 2017 a deportation plane full of Somali immigrants turned around and came back to the US. On it’s return the Somali immigrants detailed horrific abuse at the hands of ICE officials on board the aircraft. Now, they’re alleging continued abuse at a detention facility, where they’ve been held since December of last year. 

7:34 – Abrahm lustgarten (@AbrahmL) is a senior environmental reporter with Propublica. In the 1940s the US military began using an explosive named RDX in many of their weapons. It so effective that the military still uses RDX. But there’s evidence that the chemical is toxic, that it’s leaching into ground water, and that it’s causing cancer.
