0:09 – The City of Berkeley is moving to crackdown on unhoused communities further by enforcing a new sidewalk ordinance, barring obstruction of sidewalks except for a 3 ft x 3 ft space. The limitations will penalize the homeless, and critics say its another move to force people to leave with nowhere to go. We speak with Alastair Boone (@alastairboone) is the editor of Street Spirit News, the East Bay’s homeless advocacy newspaper, and Mike Zint is a co-founder of First They Came for the Homeless, and a spokesperson for the Here There encampment, an intentional community now targeted for dismantling by the City. 

0:26 – KPFA News: The debate over police use of deadly force is moving forward in the state legislature…where 2 competing bills are pitting law enforcement groups against civil rights activists. The police backed bill passed out of Committee Tuesday…but only after amendments that seem to put the other bill, AB 392 in a stronger position. KPFA’s Christopher Martinez reports.

Billie Winner Davis (@bjwinnerdavis) is the mother of Reality Winner, a 28 year old former intelligence specialist who was charged and convicted for leaking intelligence reports showing Russian interference in the 2016 elections. She’s currently serving 5 years and 3 months in Lincoln County Jail in Lincolnton, Georgia.
