Battle to Retake Mosul from ISIS Begins; How Trump’s Candidacy Is Motivating Muslim Voters; How Fracking Impacts The Most Vulnerable Among Us.

Iraqi forces deploy on October 17, 2016 in the area of al-Shurah, some 45 kms south of Mosul, as they advance towards the city to retake it from the Islamic State (IS) group jihadists. Some 30,000 federal forces are leading the offensive, backed by air and ground support from a 60-nation US-led coalition, in what is expected to be a long and difficult assault on IS's last major Iraqi stronghold. / AFP PHOTO / AHMAD AL-RUBAYE

Iraqi forces backed by the US, begin the battle to retake the city of Mosul from the Islamic State. We’ll turn to Iraqi American peace activist and writer Dahlia Wasfi about the perils of the whole military exercise. And, a new survey of Muslim voters finds, unsurprisingly, that a minuscule number plan to vote for Donald Trump in November. My guest Hussam Ayloush of the Council on American Islamic Relations will explain Muslim voters’ main concerns and the role they could play on November 8. Plus, a disturbing report on fracking operations nationwide has found that far too many childcare centers, schools, hospitals, and nursing homes lie within a one-mile radius of fracking operations. We’ll speak with Elizabeth Ridlington, the author of the report, Dangerous and Close.
