In light of the newly revised estimate of 4,600 deaths in Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria last year we present today a one-hour special on Puerto Rico. We’ll begin with a conversation with our news correspondent Rosa Clemente who is a Puerto Rican American and who traveled to the island in the weeks following the hurricane to document the stories of how people were abandoned by the government and relying on themselves to survive. She’ll discuss the grim numbers of dead and the lack of accountability of the Trump Administration. Then, we’ll play Clemente’s recent interview with San Juan mayor Carmen Yuln Cruz, discussing what happened on the ground. Finally, Puerto Rico Rising, a short documentary created by Clemente and her team that was filmed during their trip after the hurricane. Hosted by Sonali Kolhatkar.
